Daniella Cabello's role in Venezuela's export sector
Transparency Venezuela, November 1, 2024In Official Gazette No. 6.843, dated September 19, 2024, several decrees issued by the National Executive regarding foreign trade and port administration in Venezuela are included, and one of them highlights the appointment of the daughter of the current Minister of the Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello.
El Decree No. 5.007 authorizes the creation of the state-owned company Export Promotion Agency, SA, which will be chaired by Daniella Desiree Cabello Contreras, daughter of the former parliamentarian and central figure of the ruling party, PSUV.
The agency will be attached to the People's Ministry of Economy, Finance and Foreign Trade.
The appointment of Daniella Cabello Contreras was announced by Nicolás Maduro during the Economic Council “Export Chapter” held in La Guaira. Maduro emphasized that this appointment "facilitates the work" that Cabello Contreras has been developing in the presidency of the Firm Country Brand.
According to Maduro's statement, the objective of the Export Promotion Agency, SA. is “to diversify the quality products that Venezuela already makes available to the international market and explore the enormous potential that the country has” to position products in international markets.
Creation of the Export General Staff and the intervention of Bolipuertos
In the Decree No. 5.008, is established General Staff of Non-Oil ExportsThis entity will be under the direction of the President of the Republic and, according to the gazette, "will assist in making strategic decisions regarding non-oil exports."
Additionally, the Decree No. 5.009 orders the intervention of the state company Bolivarian Ports, SA (Bolipuertos), Whereas the Decree No. 5.006 dictates the suppression and liquidation of the National Center for Foreign Trade.
